Final thoughts on Job 19:26 “. . . in my flesh I shall see God.”
Notice the object of Job’s great anticipation. He doesn’t say, “I shall see the pearly gates, or I shall behold the streets of gold, or not even I shall see my Christian loved ones who’ve gone on ahead of me.” Instead, his great anticipation is, “I shall see God.”
Charles Spurgeon wrote, “To see God face to face is the sum and substance of heaven, the joyful hope of all believers.”
As the apostle John reminds us, “we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” I John 3:2
The great anticipation of all true believers is to see our great and living Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God Himself, “face to face.” I Corinthians 13:12
